Something challenging in New Zealand is to find special ingredients like pumpkin pie spice because it’s not in high demand as it would be in America. So, I have made my own mix, which I’m sharing with you today.

You might be wondering what you use pumpkin pie spice for. Well, let me excite you! You can make pumpkin pie loaf, spiced latte, or my delicious pumpkin pie chocolate chip cookies

I created my homemade pumpkin pie spice recipe based on some I found online because I can’t buy any in-store to replicate the flavours. You can use this recipe if you, too, can’t find any in the store. Personally, I think homemade spices are better than store-bought anyway.

You can store this homemade pumpkin spice mix in a cute mason jar and store it on your spice shelf for yummy recipes like my pumpkin chocolate chip cookies.

Something that I have to admit is that I absolutely dislike the taste of cloves. Traditional pumpkin pie spice calls for this in the recipe but I decided to omit it from mine.

If you don’t mind, cloves totally add to your taste. Maybe start off with ½ a teaspoon and see how you like the flavours.

Spice mixes are fun to make because you can easily change them to suit your family’s taste needs. When you buy store-bought, there could be lots of unnecessary additives that you really don’t need to add to your diet.

This recipe will make a small mason jar worth, which will probably last you for fall. Consider doubling the recipe if you do a lot of baking with homemade pumpkin pie spice.
