Everyone needs a fantastic go-to cheesy garlic bread recipe for Italian cooking nights. This cheesy garlic bread is buttery, garlicky, and covered in oozing melty cheese, making each bite irresistibly delicious. Plus, it takes less than 17 minutes to make!
Preheat the oven to 180℃ (375℉). Slice the loaf of bread in half lengthways so you have two long pieces of bread.
Add the butter to a small bowl and soften it in the microwave for 10-20 seconds. You want it to be soft, not melted! So start with 10 seconds. Mix in the garlic, garlic powder and salt.
Spread the butter mixture evenly across both pieces of garlic bread. Then, cover each piece evenly with the mozzarella and cheddar cheese.
Place on a baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes. Then turn the oven to grill and leave for another 1-2 minutes until the cheese is light brown and bubbly.
Remove from the oven, garnish with fresh parsley and another sprinkle of salt, and then cut into slices.
How to Freeze Cheesy Garlic Bread
You can freeze this cheesy garlic bread before baking to have a convenient side dish option ready to go. Just follow the recipe up to step 3, then place a piece of parchment paper on top of each piece of garlic bread to prevent the cheese from sticking to the wrapping. Next, wrap each piece in tin foil and plastic wrap before placing them in the freezer for up to 3 months.
To bake from frozen, simply remove the packaging, place on a baking sheet, and bake at 180℃ (375℉) for 15-20 minutes, or until completely cooked through and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Notes
Avoid hard-crust breads as they will become very hard when baked.
Use fresh garlic for the best flavour.
Grate your own mozzarella and cheddar cheese so it melts better.
Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven at 180℃ (375℉) for 8-10 minutes.
