Benefits of DIY Homemade Coffee Scrub

Sugar scrubs are a great way to exfoliate your skin naturally. They help to wash away dead skin cells that can build up on the surface of your skin. When dead cells are removed, your skin will start to absorb moisture better—leaving your skin smooth and glowing.

This is especially beneficial in the colder months when your skin can get quite dry.

Because this isn’t just a sugar scrub, it’s a coffee scrub, you will be stimulating blood flow and thus helping to reduce cellulite.

Coffee also has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, which can help reduce inflammation and skin infections like acne.

DIY Coffee Scrub Ingredients

This DIY coffee scrub is made with just 4 simple ingredients, all likely to be in your pantry.

  • Sugar – I used raw organic sugar for my coffee scrub, but white granulated sugar would also work fine. I like to consider where I want to use this sugar scrub on my body when deciding on what sugar to use. Brown sugar would be a good choice if you want to use this scrub on your face. Its fineness will be gentler on your skin.
  • Coffee – Any ground coffee beans will work well for this coffee scrub. I just used my French roast plunger coffee from the packet, which has worked well.
  • Oil – I suggest using coconut oil if you have it, or olive oil will work, too. Coconut oil has antibacterial and anti-fungal properties and will help moisturise dry skin.
  • Vanilla – Add a dash of pure vanilla extract to enhance the fragrance of this scrub. Nothing is more delicious than a vanilla & coffee scrub!

This scrub is made using natural ingredients, so it’s always best to use these things quicker than store-bought products. I recommend using this scrub within 2-3 months of making it.

How to Make this DIY Homemade Coffee Scrub

  2. Mix until well combined.

This recipe will make 3 x 4oz jelly jars from Ball or you could use one 12oz jar.

You can store your coffee scrub in mason jars if they are for a gift or use at a kitchen sink. If you want to use your in the shower, consider a safer option like metal or plastic. You don’t want shattered glass on your shower floor!

How to Use Coffee Scrub

Scoop out about a tablespoon or two and rub the coffee scrub directly onto your skin. If you are in the shower, move out from under the faucet and apply the scrub to areas. Move in a circular motion to help remove dead skin cells and stimulate the blood flow.

Rinse off and dry yourself as normal. You should be able to notice the suppleness of your revitalised skin. It’s such a nice treat!

How to Gift this Handmade Coffee Scrub

These sugar scrubs make lovely handmade gifts. Store the scrub into a small mason jar. Add a sweet satin ribbon and a free printable gift tag.

You can use either card stock or sticker paper to print my free gift tags. I used a vinyl sticker paper, which worked well. You could just use a card stock and stick them on with double-sided tape!

Your friends and family will appreciate the thought and effort that goes into a beautiful homemade gift like this.

Add your coffee scrub to a gift basket with a cotton washcloth, scrunchies, a face mask, and some natural DIY hand soap with a ribbon.
