Benefits of DIY Homemade Coffee Scrub
Sugar scrubs are a great way to naturally exfoliate your skin. They help to wash away dead skin cells that can build up on the surface of your skin. When dead cells are removed your skin will start to absorb moisture better. Leaving your skin smooth and glowing.
This is especially beneficial in the colder months when your skin can get quite dry.
Because this isn’t just a sugar scrub it’s a coffee scrub, you will be stimulating blood flow and thus helping to reduce cellulite.
Coffee also has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, which can help reduce inflammation and skin infections like acne.
DIY Coffee Scrub Ingredients
This diy coffee scrub is made with just 4 simple ingredients, all of which are likely to be in your pantry.
- Sugar – I used raw organic sugar for my coffee scrub but white granulated sugar would work just fine too. I like to consider where I want to use this sugar scrub on my body when deciding on what sugar to use. Brown sugar would be a good choice if you want to use this scrub on your face. It’s fineness will be gentler on your skin.
- Coffee – Any ground coffee beans will work good for this coffee scrub. I just used my french roast plunger coffee from the packet, which has worked a treat.
- Oil – I suggest using coconut oil if you have it or olive oil will work too. Coconut oil has antibacterial and anti fungal properties and will help moisture dry skin.
- Vanilla – Add a dash of pure vanilla extract to enhance the fragrance of this scrub. Nothing is more delicious then a vanilla & coffee scrub!
This scrub is made using natural ingredients so its always best to use these things quicker than store bought products. I would recommend using this scrub within 2-3 months of making it.
