These air fryer sweet potato fries are the perfect side for homemade burger night! They are full of flavour, low in oil, and crispy with a soft inner.
I don’t know about you, but I’m a sucker for sweet potato fries, and since we got an air fryer, these bad boys have been on repeat!
They are ridiculously easy to throw together as a side for lunch or dinner or as a yummy afternoon snack.
They pair perfectly with burgers made with these juicy homemade burger patties. A delicious fake-away meal at home that’s more affordable and healthier!
This recipe serves 4-6 people and only requires 2 tablespoons of oil, which is much healthier than deep-fried options (although these still have their place of course!).

Step 1: Peel and rinse the sweet potato, then chop it into quarters. Slice the sweet potato into even 1cm (1/4-inch) thick pieces, then cut each piece in half lengthwise for 1cm (1/4-inch) thick fries.
Step 2: Toss the fries in olive oil, then add the seasonings and toss again to coat them evenly.
Step 3: Air Fryer at 200°C (400°F) for about 15 minutes in batches, depending on the size of the air fryer basket. Don’t overcrowd the fries. Turn or shake the fries in the basket halfway through cooking.
Step 4: Remove the fries from the air fryer and place them on a serving plate. Serve with your favourite dipping sauces. (We enjoy aioli and ketchup!)
Makyla’s Cooking Tips
1. Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket, as the fries won’t become nice and crispy on the outside.
2. Take your time to evenly coat the fries with the oil and seasoning so every frie tastes good!
Why are my sweet potato fries not getting crispy in the air fryer?
If the fries are overcrowded in the air fryer basket, there will not be enough space for the air to circulate around them to make them crispy. Cook these in 2-3 batches, depending on the size of your air fryer.
What kind of oil is best for air fryer sweet potato fries?
Most oils will work well for this recipe. Try avocado oil, olive oil, coconut oil, or rapeseed oil.
How do I cook frozen sweet potato chips in the air fryer?
To cook frozen sweet potato fries, season them according to this recipe and then cook them for 5 minutes longer than the recipe suggests.
