These crispy air fryer Brussels sprouts are seasoned to perfection and quick to prepare, ready in just 20 minutes or less. They make a healthy and delicious side dish for any meal!
Brussels sprouts often have a bad reputation for being a sad, soggy, and disliked vegetable. However, I can assure you that cooking them the right way, such as in an air fryer, turns them into a crispy and delicious side dish that you’ll enjoy eating, almost like fries!
These Brussels sprouts are lightly coated in oil and well seasoned with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. They are topped with grated Parmesan cheese, which melts into crispy bits throughout the Brussels sprouts. Yum!

- Brussels sprouts – fresh Brussels sprouts.
- Olive oil – I like to use olive oil, but you can also use rapeseed oil or avocado oil.
- Parmesan cheese – freshly grated parmesan cheese works well for this recipe. You could top the cooked Brussels sprouts with crumbed parmesan so it melts into the creases.
- Garlic powder – to add flavour. You could add freshly crushed garlic instead, but add it to the Brussels sprouts after 8 minutes of cooking.
- Salt & Black Pepper – to season. I like to use Himalayan or sea salt.
How to Make Air Fryer Brussels Sprouts
The printable recipe card below has the full ingredients list and instructions.
Prepare the Brussels sprouts by cutting off the ends and halving them. Rinse them thoroughly in a colander then soak in water for 10 minutes. Remove and shake off any excess water. Transfer them to a medium mixing bowl.
Add the olive oil and toss to coat the brussel sprouts evenly. Then, add the garlic powder, parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper. Toss to coat.
Add the Brussels sprouts to the air fryer tray, making sure they are not overcrowded. Cook in the air fryer for 8 minutes at 180°C (350°F). Then, toss and continue cooking for another 8 minutes. Remove from the air fryer and serve immediately.
Flavour Variations
Balsamic Glaze: For a delicious caramelised variation, try making balsamic glazed Brussels sprouts in the air fryer. After 8 minutes of cooking, toss in a balsamic glaze and continue cooking for an additional 8 minutes.
Maple Mustard: Mix together a quick dressing of maple syrup and Dijon mustard. Season and cook the Brussels sprouts until crispy, then immediately toss with the maple mustard.
Honey: For an extra touch of sweetness, you can try adding a little bit of honey to the Brussels sprouts after they’re done cooking.
Bacon: Add diced bacon bits to the Brussels sprouts in the air fryer for a nice and crispy texture.
Why did my brussel sprouts burn in the air fryer?
Brussels sprouts can burn in the air fryer due to high temperatures or overcrowding. To prevent burning, try adjusting the air fryer temperature, as each machine can behave differently. Remember to shake the basket halfway through cooking and ensure the sprouts are cooked for the right amount of time.
Why did my brussel sprouts not cook in the middle?
Don’t skip soaking the Brussels sprouts, as this helps cook them evenly!
